Toppers Talk: Training Camp Day 1

The Saskatoon Hilltops opened up training camp today at Ron Atchison Field. More than 70 players took part in the two opening practices of the season. Head Coach Tom Sargent was impressed with what he saw from his players conditioning as the team was put through fitness testing to open the day.

The team, who lost 17 starters from 2013, battled through the heat and threatening rain clouds and worked on all three phases of the game.

Jared Andreychuk looked good leading the offence, while Wayndel Lewis has bulked up and looks ready to fill the void left by All-Canadian Andre LaLonde in the backfield.

Defensively the veterans were very vocal as the entire unit played fast football and swarmed to the ball.

Camp continues with workouts Tuesday and tomorrow night at 7pm, then on Thursday the opening week wraps up with the annual alumni game, also at Ron Atchison field at 7pm.
