Saskatoon Goldfin Swims Her Way To Rio

The Saskatoon Goldfins Swim Club is extremely proud to announce that 16 year old Samantha Ryan has been nominated to the Canadian Paralympics Swim Team and will be competing in the 2016 Rio Paralymic Games. Ryan, a swimmer with the Saskatoon Swim Club was nominated to the team Sunday evening at the Swimming Canada Olympic Trials in Toronto.

Ryan is the first swimmer in the Saskatoon Goldfins Swim Club history to make it to the Olympic Games and is looking forward to the experience. “It’s a dream come true. I am super excited to be able to represent Canada this summer!”

Ryan swam a personal best in the 100 Fly with a time of 1:10.35 taking gold in the event. Her coach Steve Hitchings says Samantha handled the pressure well “I am really proud of Sam for what she has accomplished this weekend.

She had the weight of the world on her shoulders Friday night in the 100 Fly and rose to the occasion. I am looking forward to getting her ready to swim fast in Rio.”

Samantha will continue to train with the Saskatoon Goldfins in combination with the National Swim team leading up to the Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro Brazil, September 7 – 18, 2016.
