Sarge Back In Charge In 2015

The 14th Head Coach in Saskatoon Hilltop history will return to the sidelines for an 18th season.

The reigning Canadian Bowl Champions, confirmed that Tom Sargeant will return to the sidelines in 2015. Hilltop President Jeff Gould made the announcement to the media at the team’s clubhouse on Monday afternoon.

Sargent was named the Prairie Football Conference’s Coach of the year in 2014 and then went on to cap off the season with his 10th national championship (8 as a coach and 2 as a player) with the Hilltops.

In addressing the media Sargent admitted that it may have taken him a little longer than in previous seasons to reach a decision as to whether to return next summer. He credited an exciting group of athletes that are set to return to the team in 2015 and a team, that on paper, should be very competitive. He also admitted that having an opportunity to host the Canadian Championship at the newly renovated Saskatoon Minor Football Field was a key motivator.

As for his coaching staff Sargent admitted that he hoped all would be back for 2015 but didn’t have solid confirmation from the rest of his coaches as he himself had just decided to return. He also hinted that he may expand his coaching staff for the upcoming season.
