Rush Make Bold Move

The Saskatchewan Rush continued their busy off-season by completing a major trade today, acquiring the 2016 NLL Goaltender of the Year Evan Kirk from the New England Black Wolves in exchange for goaltender Aaron Bold, defender John LaFontaine, along with the team’s first round selection in the upcoming 2017 NLL Draft and a second round selection in the 2018 NLL Draft.

Kirk has been one of the premier goaltenders in the NLL over the last six seasons, including being named to the 2016 NLL All Pro First Team and the 2012 All Rookie Team. The thirty-year-old native of Orangeville, Ontario has appeared in 102 NLL regular season games, compiling a 12.42 GAA and a .765 save percentage over that span.

“The trades we’ve made this week showcase our mission to keep our eyes on the future while still competing in the now. We also need to be fiscally and cap responsible to remain a strong contender for years to come. The Rush would like to thank Aaron and John for their outstanding service to the team and we wish them both all the very best in the future.” – Keenan

“Our fans are passionate, dedicated and have a strong appetite to win. Acquiring a goaltender of Evan’s skillset will strengthen our defense and help us challenge for our fourth consecutive NLL championship appearance. Get excited for Evan Kirk #RushNation, he’s going to be an impact player for us for many years to come” – Rush owner Bruce Urban
