Riders Announce Fan Day: Training Camp Day 4 Wrap-Up

To cap off the first week of Ground Force Drilling Training camp at Griffiths Stadium, we invite all Rider fans out this Saturday afternoon for our annual Fan Fest Day.

On the field, the Green and White will put on their first scrimmage of the year, off the field, it will be a “Game Day” feel.

There will be a full kids section in the north end zone with games, face painting, the Riders Kids Club and of course, the CFL’s favourite mascot, Gainer the Gopher.

The 620 CKRM Cheer Team will kick off the scrimmage with a performance and then you will get a chance to see the Riders, new and returning in action.

Concessions will be open all afternoon with the gates opening at 2:30.

The following is the Day 4 report from the 2014 Roughrider Training Camp.

NImp WR Alex Anthony – hamstring (day to day)
NImp WR Chris Getzlaf – quad (day to day)
NImp FB Neal Hughes – foot (day to day)
NImp FB Scott McHenry – knee (day to day
NImp LB Shomari Williams – knee (day to day)

The enthusiasm was high as the team period opened with goal line situations. The offence was first on the board as quarterback Darian Durant found offensive lineman Dan Clark in the end zone. The defence answered back on the next play as linebacker Brian Peters stripped the ball away from the running back before it was scooped up by defensive Dwight Anderson for the turnover.

Head Coach Corey Chamblin on the offensive line: “The good thing is that they are intact, the bad thing is that they can’t get complacent. We’ve discussed a few things to try to light a fire under those guys to get them going and have them move forward. They can’t sit back and say ‘hey look what we did last year and we still play together.’ They have to take their game to another level.”
Select players will be available to fans for autographs along the west fence line following the afternoon practices throughout the week.
Today the receivers walked the fence line and spent time with fans. The linebackers are on the schedule for Thursday.

Players and coaches will hit the practice field at Griffiths Stadium for Day 5 of training camp with two practice sessions. The first practice will take place at 8:15AM, while the second will start at approximately 3:00PM.
