Plans Proceeding For New Look Bowl

The Friends of the Bowl Foundation have released new plans for what the revamped Gordie Howe Bowl is going to look like.

The facility will get a new scoreboard and field turf installed for the upcoming High School football season. Work on that phase of the project will begin in April or as soon as the frost is out of the ground.

Additionally preparation will begin for a brand new locker room/concession/storage facility with the hopes of its’ completition in 2015.

The new facility will feature many modern features that will make Gordie Howe Bowl a destination location for athletics in our province.

Clubhouse facts:

12,000 square feet over 2 floors.

  • Brand new concession to be outfitted to serve healthier options
  • Storage for field equipment.
  • Brand new locker rooms, over 1000 square feet to accommodate teams
  • Therapy room, officials’ room, co-ed locker room
  • Second floor will be offices for the Bowl operator, plus a stunning multi-purpose room with an outdoor balcony overlooking the south end zone
  • The clubhouse has 4 softball locker rooms and an umpires’ room to serve the ball fields.

Current and future user groups:

  • The Bowl will be the home of Saskatoon football and will be used by the majority of Saskatoon football teams including the Hilltops, high school teams, Valkyries, and minor football.
  • Other potential user groups include soccer, softball, ultimate Frisbee, and rugby.

As far as the Saskatoon Hilltops are concerned their season very likely will start on the road as they will play 3 games in August. Should the facility not be ready they will play home games at Griffiths Stadium until the turf is done.
