Offensive Finish To Huskie Camp

The University of Saskatchewan Huskies spring camp wrapped up Sunday afternoon at Griffiths Stadium with their annual Green and White game.

119 players took to the turf for the final on-field workout of the spring. The coaching staff had scripted 65 plays and gave every player an opportunity to make an impression.

Offensively the players were able to move the ball in spurts at the start of the workout before finding their stride and gaining momentum throughout the session.

Four quarterbacks took their turns directed the offence with Drew Burko taking the first reps followed by Kyle Siemens, Jeremy Long and Ben Leier. The remainder of the offense subbed in at predetermined intervals.

Defensively the first group started very strong with great gap control along the line of scrimmage and the secondary was able to hold the talented receivers at bay.

However, the offence was able to gain traction and would put up seven touchdowns and a handful of field goals in the scrimmage that lasted just more that 90 minutes.

Here is the complete scoring summary:

#30 Kaden Johnson 40-yard TD run.

#9 Case Long 12-yard TD reception from QB Kyle Seimens.

#6 Braxton Dirham 14-yard TD reception from QB Kyle Seimens.

#28 Kealey Heintz 40-yard Field Goal.

#17 Brody Thomson 1-yard TD run.

#17 Brody Thomson 35-yard TD run.

#76 Kieran Johnston 8-yard TD reception from QB Drew Burko.

#87 Mitch Hillis 17-yard TD reception.

#24 Brayden Heck 36-yard Field Goal.

#71 Sean Stenger 40-yard Field Goal.

Defensively there were some outstanding plays. Here were a few of the highlights.

#21 Brett Boechler interception on a first down play.

#56 Liam Graham great pass rush and knock-down at the line-of-scrimmage.

Play of the day: With the offense looking to find its’ legs early in the scrimmage a great 40-yard run by Kaden Johnson through a nicely established hole by the offensive line was taken to the end zone. The run seemed to give the offense some momentum something that they never relinquished.
