The Kinsmen Club of Saskatoon is proud to announce that Wayne Gretzky will be our host and keynote speaker for our upcoming “Tribute to Gordie Howe” Sports Celebrity dinner.
Additionally; According to Marty Howe Gordie Howe has recovered to the point that he is walking under his own power and the family expects him to make his final public appearance at the dinner in Saskatoon on February 6th
Growing up “The Great One” always looked up to Howe and the way he played hockey from the time he was a young man. During his time in the NHL Gretzky would go on to beat many of Howe’s once untouchable records including most NHL goals, most NHL points, most goals as a professional (WHA/NHL) and most points as a professional (WHA/NHL). Gretzky also would win four Stanley Cup titles with the Edmonton Oilers, dominating the game in a way never seen before winning 9 Hart Trophies as MVP and 10 Art Ross trophies as the league’s scoring leader. Gretzky still owns 60 NHL records today.
Gretzky, along with other NHL guests to be announced later, will speak directly to members of the Howe family, and Gordie if he is feeling well enough in a special evening. Former Saskatoon Blade and NHL player Kelly Chase will serve as the evening’s master of ceremonies.
All proceeds raised from the sports celebrity dinner go directly to the Kinsmen Club of Saskatoon to be used to benefit Saskatoon. Corporate tables are $7,500 and are on sale now at our website kcos.ca
