Million Dollar Day For The Bowl!

At a news conference today, the Friends of the Bowl Foundation kicked off the public phase of its Bowl Field Goal Campaign.

Campaign Chair, Greg Yuel, announced the capital campaign goal of $11 million, which will be used to revitalize the Bowl at Gordon Howe Park.

“We are moving forward in campaign with the full scope of the Foundation’s proposed upgrades. Our community wants to see the full scope of the project realized,” said Mr. Yuel. “Our $11-million goal will cover new artificial turf, scoreboard, lights and sound system, plus a stunning 12,000 square foot clubhouse, complete with concession, locker rooms, equipment storage, and a second floor multi-purpose room with a balcony for a stellar vantage point viewing of games.”

Mr. Yuel also commended the Foundation Board on its 100% participation rate in terms of a financial donation to this campaign. “Every Board Director is incredibly invested in delivering a revitalized Bowl  – the Directors each invest their time, talent and their treasure,” said Mr. Yuel. “This leadership is critical to our campaign’s success.”

Chair of the Foundation, Bryan Kosteroski, thanked Mr. Yuel for his $500,000 leadership gift to the campaign.

“During our quiet phase, Greg has been instrumental in connecting with individuals and supporters to enlist their help to achieve our campaign goal,” said Mr. Kosteroski. “Greg has shown his own leadership and community support once again with his inspiring donation.”

As a thank you for his gift, the Foundation is naming the new Entrance Plaza to the Bowl in recognition of Mr. Yuel.

Mr. Yuel also announced a total amount raised to date. “The leadership of our volunteers and of the Foundation is incredible. It is inspiring. It is the initial driver behind this public campaign kick off. And today, I am pumped to announce that the Board and our Leadership Team have, to date, contributed $1,001,360 to this campaign.”

The Foundation aims to complete the campaign by the end of June. More donor and supporter announcements will be forthcoming and listed on the campaign website, www.turfit.ca.

“I am privileged to work alongside these volunteers – these heroes who pursue and support a greater vision for our athletic community,” said Mr. Yuel. “The Bowl has the greatest potential to positively impact sport in our city. Together, with our community, we will create the renewed home for football in Saskatoon.”

The Bowl at Gordon Howe Park is one of Saskatoon’s notable sports facilities and an essential football venue in the city. The age of the facility, its community relevance, user demand for lit outdoor fields and rapidly increasing participation rates in football and other outdoor sport programs in Saskatoon signal it is time to renovate and modernize the stadium for the safety and benefit of the athletic community. Donations to the Bowl Field Goal Campaign can be made online at www.turfit.ca or by contacting the Foundation.

The Friends of the Bowl Foundation is a volunteer, not-for-profit assembled to raise funds and implement long-overdue upgrades, in partnership with city administrators, to the Bowl at Gordon Howe Park. Incorporated in 2013, the Board of Directors represents multiple sports and stakeholders.
