Huskies Set To Go Camping

Football Huskies Top Stories

The University of Saskatchewan Huskies are poised to open their 2016 Spring Camp this weekend at Griffiths Stadium.

Things begin tomorrow with the introduction of the team’s recruiting class at the Dogs Breakfast tomorrow morning at Prairieland Park.

Following this weeks release of the rankings of the Canada West top draft eligible athletes I had an opportunity to speak with Huskie Head Coach Brian Towriss and he shared his thoughts on the rankings and what fans can expect at camp this weekend.

You can hear the entire conversation here.

In addition to highlighting some of the top players in the Huskies program he lets me know which battles will be the ones to watch this weekend.

Here are the full details from the Huskies regarding this weekends camp.

Huskie football returns to the turf in Griffiths Stadium in PotashCorp Park as the University of Saskatchewan squad hits the field for its 2016 spring camp.

Spring camp kicks off early Thursday morning with the 16th annual Dogs Breakfast at Prairieland Park and wraps up Sunday with the Green and White scrimmage.

The Dogs Breakfast helps raise scholarship funds for the team. Special guests Rod Smith, Jock Clime and Duane Forde from the CFL on TSN will host a panel at the breakfast. Joining the panel members will be Saskatchewan Roughriders head coach and general manager Chris Jones and former Rider quarterback Kerry Joseph. At the event, Huskie head coach Brian Towriss will make an official announcement of new recruits to the team.

The players will then hit the field that night at 6:00 p.m. in the first practice of the weekend. They suit up again Friday at 5:45 p.m., 10:30 a.m. and 3:45 p.m. Saturday and finally 10:30 a.m. Sunday for the green and white scrimmage. All fans, supporters, alumni, family and friends are invited to attend any of the practices during the camp. The camp will feature more than 100 returning Huskies, new recruits and walk-on players.
