Dave’s Dis N’ Dat To Kick-Start The Weekend!

First off a tip of the cap to first responders and all those who worked tirelessly on Wednesday to ensure that the Nation’s capital returned to safety.

It truly hit home for me listening to A-J Jakubec, the play-by-play voice of the Ottawa REDBLACKS, describe his day on Wednesday. His entire thoughts in this week’s edition of the View From the Sidelines. The comment that has stuck with me was describing the mood around Ottawa where he said, “I’m pissed off! They took something away from us.” Again the conversation is a must hear. Check it out below.

More football and I floated he question as to whether Darian Durant’s season is over. The Saskatchewan Roughriders placed their star pivot back on the 6-game injured list on Thursday. What does that mean for sure; He won’t dress in Calgary, his salary will not count against the cap this week or during the team’s bye week, and he cannot practice with the team for four weeks, AND he can be pulled off the list early as the Riders do still have a “save,” left if you will. What it could mean is an entirely different ball of wax. All I know is that I will be curious to find out what the definitive meaning of the move is this weekend.

Back at home the Saskatoon Hilltops are looking to rinse a bad taste from their mouths. The Toppers have had that foul flavour in their mouth since last year’s PFC final loss to the Regina Thunder. Saskatoon has emerged from a slow start to the season and has run the table since week three of the season which has them hosting Calgary in Sunday’s league final. The Colts are not going to be pushovers as they came out of the gates gunning early in the season and after a slight stumble mid-season, they are rolling in all three facets of the game. Don’t miss the in-depth preview here this weekend and if you can’t make it to Saskatoon Minor Football Field on Sunday afternoon I will have the play-by-play starting at 12:30pm on CJWW.

More from the grid iron and the University of Saskatchewan Huskies need a big bounce back game against Alberta tomorrow. Brian Towriss’ men were blasted a week ago in Manitoba and now they need to find their moxy as the post-season is approaching.

On the ice, the Saskatoon Blades get a huge thumbs up for all that they do in the community and what they are doing on the ice. The young team works hard and are tough to play against. I liked what I saw from the group against Kootenay on Wednesday.Additionally, they made a dream of my son come true. Getting a chance to play at a Blades game was something that my Tim Bit age player has asked about all season. The Blades welcomed his team to the ice on Wednesday and the first-class manor in which they were treated made a memorable experience for him and his team mates.

To the Show and is it just me having a hard time watching Rogers’ NHL hockey presentation? I’m not saying that it’s bad it is just different. Maybe it’s my age catching up to me.

That’s it for today! Thank-you for stopping in and catching up with me!

We’ll chat on the weekend.
