CFL Legends: Tom Burgess

It’s hard to believe that it has been a quarter-century since “The Kick” propelled the Saskatchewan Roughriders to a 43-40 victory over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the 77th Grey Cup.

All season long View From The Sidelines will revisit the heros that made Saskatchewan’s second ever Grey Cup Championship a reailty.

We started with the man responsible for getting the team to the championship game. No not Kent Austin, who would go on to win the Most Valuable Offenisve Player Award, but his back-up Tom Burgess who came on in relief of an injured Kent Austin in the Western Final and helped lead the Riders past the 16-and-2 Edmonton Eskimos to the 1989 Grey Cup.

A very modest Burgess sat down and talked with our crew on View From The Sidelines. You can hear the conversation here:|titles=CFL
