Local Players Getting A Look At Rider Camp:

The Saskatchewan Roughriders today announced the addition of four Saskatchewan products to the 2013 training camp roster.

Drew Burko played his freshman season at the University of Saskatchewan in 2013 after redshirting the previous year. The six-foot-three quarterback played five games for the Huskies completing 96 passes for 1257 yards and ten touchdowns.

Andre Lalonde spent last season in the Prairie Football Conference with the Saskatoon Hilltops. The runningback played eight games finishing the season with 104 carries for 741 yards to sit third among league rushers. He also added five touchdowns.

Brett Pisio also spent last season with the Hilltops. The defensive lineman totaled 16 defensive tackles, 11 special teams tackles, 1.5 quarterback sacks, two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.

Mitch Thompson spent the 2013 season in the PFC with the Regina Thunder. Through eight regular season games the wide receiver totaled 569 yards on 40 receptions and added two touchdowns.

Huskies Inroduce Recruits:

University of Saskatchewan Huskie football head coach Brian Towriss announced 18 new faces to the squad for the 2013 season Thursday at the 13th Annual Dogs’ Breakfast.

This year’s recruiting class features some of the best high school and junior football players in the province and Western Canada.  These players are just some of the new athletes who will be in Huskies’ uniforms for the 2013 season.

Head Coach Brian Towriss joined myself and Les Lazaruk on CJWW-Saskatoon this morning. You can hear his thoughts here.

Canadian Interuniversity Sport announced Wednesday the rosters for the 11th annual East West Bowl, presented by Under Armour. The all-star showcase is set for Saturday, May 11, 2013 at TD Waterhouse Stadium on the campus of Western University in London, Ont.

Huskie Athletics is proud to announce the nominees for the Major 7 Awards to be handed out at the 2013 Huskie Salute on April 5 at TCU Place.

The Major 7 Awards are handed to those athletes who have had outstanding seasons for the green and white, as well as made big contributions on the field, in the classroom and in the community during their time with the Huskies. Huskie Athletics will also honour Canada West All-Stars and Major Award Winners, CIS All-Canadians and Major Award Winners and fifth year athletes, as well as hand out the Trainer of the Year award.
