Hilltops Set To Plunge Into Playoffs: A Pictorial Look

Firstly, I want to thank Steve Hiscock. There is no better smile in sports than Steve and he once again has allowed me to share his work. The images that he captures at any event he covers show emotion, and incredible detail to a moment in time. Thanks Steve for allowing me to share your work!

On to the game and the story was simple going in, a win for the Hilltops and a first place finish in the Prairie Football Conference would be assured. Meanwhile, the Edmonton Wildcats knew that they had to find a way to win and get some help to qualify for the post season. Despite a valiant effort that desperation would not pay off for the Wildcats as the home-town Hilltops would score a hard-fought 28-23 victory.
The Toppers would open the scoring off of a Brett Thorarinson 35-yard field goal, his first of four on the afternoon.

After stopping the Cats on their 3rd and 1 from their goal line the Hilltops would be forced to surrender a safety and that’s how the opening quarter would end with Saskatoon in front 3-2.
