SMF Set To Celebrate The Game:

Saskatoon Minor Football will be hosting a season ending Football Jamboree June 21, 22, 23 at Forest Park.

The event runs Friday June 21 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM, Saturday June 22 9:00 AM – 9:00PM, and Sunday June 23 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM.

Guebs Gets The Call

Football Canada is proud to announce its 2014 Junior National Team coaching staff which will lead Canada at the 2014 International Federation of American Football (IFAF) U19 World Championship. Canada enters the third IFAF U19 World Championship as the defending gold medalist after defeating Team USA 23-17 last summer in Austin, Texas while the Americans captured the inaugural 2009 event with a win over Canada in Canton, Ohio.

 

CFL Draft In the Books:

The 2013 Canadian Football College draft came and went Monday morning.

With the first overall pick the Hamilton Tiger-Cats selected University of Calgary defensive lineman Linden Gaydosh.

The Peace River, Alberta native joins a revamped Tiger-Cats defence after an impressive 2012 season with the Dinos where he took home his second consecutive conference all-star nod.

Meanwhile as for a summary of the Saskatchewan Roughrider activity: The Riders held on their first round pick (4th overall) to select Offensive lineman Corey Watman.

Local Players Getting A Look At Rider Camp:

The Saskatchewan Roughriders today announced the addition of four Saskatchewan products to the 2013 training camp roster.

Drew Burko played his freshman season at the University of Saskatchewan in 2013 after redshirting the previous year. The six-foot-three quarterback played five games for the Huskies completing 96 passes for 1257 yards and ten touchdowns.

Andre Lalonde spent last season in the Prairie Football Conference with the Saskatoon Hilltops. The runningback played eight games finishing the season with 104 carries for 741 yards to sit third among league rushers. He also added five touchdowns.

Brett Pisio also spent last season with the Hilltops. The defensive lineman totaled 16 defensive tackles, 11 special teams tackles, 1.5 quarterback sacks, two forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.

Mitch Thompson spent the 2013 season in the PFC with the Regina Thunder. Through eight regular season games the wide receiver totaled 569 yards on 40 receptions and added two touchdowns.

Former Hilltop Headed South

Former Saskatoon Hilltop and University of Regina Ram Jorgen Hus is looking to ply his trade in the NFL next season.

The former St. Joseph High School standout was signed by the NFL’s St. Louis Rams after the National Football League draft concluded on the weekend.

Hus was the Rams long snapper and in addition to getting the 15 yard snap back to the punter with amazing accuracy he dazzled scouts with his 4.75 time in the 40-yard sprint.

Hus who is 23 was among two Rams who signed with NFL teams after the draft  concluded Saturday. Defensive lineman Stefan Charles was inked by the Tennessee Titans.

The of course a lot of speculation about where Charles may end up, however,  Hus flew under the radar until Saturday.

Hilltops Get Map To Four-Peat:
