The Saskatoon Blades are pleased to announce the return of goaltender Alex Moodie. The 19-year-old, who the Blades selected in the 5th round (108th overall) of the 2010 Bantam Draft, is returning to the City of Bridges from Spokane. He was dealt there in the off-season for a 4th round conditional draft pick in 2016.

“This worked out well for us. They had two goalies the same age playing well for them, one being their veteran, the other being Alex, so we were able to reacquire Alex. He brings a lot of talent to the table, including experience in this league,” says Blades general manager and coach Bob Woods.

The 6’1″, 182 lb. netminder from Winnipeg is slated to arrive in Saskatoon later today and join the Blades for their practice this afternoon.

Last season, Moodie appeared in 28 games with the Blades – his third WHL season – posting a 4.29 GAA and .894 save percentage. In his career, Moodie has played in 56 regular season games with a 4.19 GAA and .885 save percentage. He appeared in one playoff game for the Blades in 2013, allowing one goal on 20 shots in a relief effort.

With Moodie coming back to Saskatoon, the Blades return the 4th round conditional draft pick to Spokane.
