Big Win, Big Shock – Hilltops Tied For First In PFC

A big win at home and a big surprise on the road have the Saskatoon Hilltops sitting atop the Prairie Football Conference Standings.

The Saskatoon Hilltops blasted out to a 34-nothing halftime lead on the visiting Winnipeg Rifles at Saskatoon Minor Football Field yesterday before coasting to a 48-23 victory. The Toppers would put up 341 yards in total offence in building the lead.

Hilltop Head Coach called it the best half of football that his team has played all season.

However, With the Hilltops substituting liberally in the second half the Rifles were able to cut into the lead outscoring the Toppers 23-14 in the final 30 minutes.

Meantime, while the Hilltops were scoring at home the Calgary Colts picked up just their second win of the season with a 20-13 upset victory over the Thunder in Regina. The loss drops the Thunder to 4-and-2, tied with the Hilltops for first in the PFC with 8 points.

The Hilltops will attempt to move ahead of Regina in week seven as they close-out their home and home series with the Rifles next Sunday in Winnipeg…
