The Saskatchewan Roughriders declared their roster this morning ahead of tomorrow’s Labour Day Classic with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Among the roster changes is the addition of Rob Bagg to the roster.
Bagg missed last week’s contest in Edmonton after sustaining a knee sprain in the Green and White’s victory over the Montreal Alouettes in week 8.
The University of Saskatchewan Huskies defeated the University of Regina Rams 40-33 in their opening game of Canada West competition, Friday night.
It certainly wasn’t pretty!
The Huskies opened up a 22-7 first quarter lead by virtue of a pair Denton Kolodzinski field goales from 26 and 47 yards, while surprise starter Deter Janke ran into the end zone from 31 yards out and Drew Burko tossed an 11-yard touchdown pass to Mitch Stevens.
The Saskatchewan Roughriders are pleased to announce that tomorrow’s Labour Day Classic has sold out.
The sell-out mark of 44,910 was reached this morning making this weekend’s game the second highest regular season home game in Roughrider history and largest Labour Day Classic.
Kick-off for the sell-out game is scheduled for 2:00 pm Sunday at Mosaic Stadium.

Time to wrap up the week with some of Dis n’ Dat…
We start in the CFL and Labour Day weekend means the start of the second season in the CFL where things are expected to get tighter and wins harder to come by. On Sunday’s Rider football broadcast I’m excited to have former Blue Bomber and current University of Saskatchewan special teams coordinator join me. One of the things that I am going to ask him is what he feels is the biggest improvement the Riders made this year. His surprise is going to blow your socks off.

Another three for four week for this predictor… Just not the 3 for 4 week you may think… Yes I took Montreal to upset BC at home, however, I thought that Toronto would be able to continue their recent roll with a win at home over the Stamps. The 3 correct predictions did improve my overall season record to 24-8, though.
Now here’s what I see happening this Labour Day weekend across the Canadian Football League.
Hamilton Tiger-Cats at British Columbia Lions:
Tabbies: LW 37-14 win vs. WPG. Record 4-4 (2nd In East)
Leos: LW 39-38 loss at MTL. Record 5-3 (3rd in West)
The Saskatoon Hilltops are proud to announce we have two PFC Players of the Week. Congratulations to Cole and Brett!
Linebacker #46 Cole Benkic – PFC Defensive Player of the Week
The Saskatoon Hilltops ran their record to 2-0 after a 30-15 win in Regina. Defensively the Hilltops didn’t allow a touchdown and would give up just 68 yards on the ground. One of the biggest reasons was the play of linebacker Cole Benkic, who had four tackles, one interception and one knockdown.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders announced the addition of import returner Tristan Jackson to the team’s roster.
Jackson (5’8 – 185) rejoins the Green and White after spending the last two seasons with the Riders. Last season, the 27-year-old played 13 regular season games registering 30 kickoff returns for 794 yards, 32 punt returns for 303 yards and added four missed field goal returns for 267 yards including a 129-yard return for a touchdown. He also spent time at defensive back finishing with 20 defensive tackles, five pass knockdowns and one interception.
The Saskatoon Blades are extremely pleased to announce that they have signed their top three picks from the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft.
All three of defenceman Nolan Reid, left-winger Parker Smyth and center Luke Gingras have been signed to standard WHL player contracts.
“All three players were standouts at training camp this past weekend,” said Blades general manager Lorne Molleken. “We drafted them for a reason, all three are good young players with unique skillsets and we are glad to have them under contract as part of our future.”
